Laproscopic Gastric Banding

Biliopancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch The Laproscopic Gastric Banding Procedure, (here after referred to as LAP band) involves placing an adjustable silicone band around part of the stomach. This creates a smaller “pouch” in which food is held in the stomach. When patients who have had this procedure eat, they experience a feeling of fullness when the pouch fills, and therefore, they eat less. The stomach has the ability to stretch over time, so the LAP-Band is adjusted with injections of sterile fluid in a port just under the skin.
