OPTIFAST

General:
The OPTIFAST is a comprehensive, medically monitored program that has been proven effective in more than 80 clinical studies and by more than 1 million people who have participated in the program since 1974.

Types of food allowed:
OPTIFAST shakes and supplements, some whole foods.

Advantages:
Low calorie diet, supervised by physician, regular blood work and counseling, supervised by registered dieticians.

Disadvantages:
Expensive. This low calorie diet is not meant for people who are not morbidly obese.

Health Issues:
No health issues when supervised by a physician.
